With a lot happening over the next few weeks I've decided to circulate a June update of
key events, Steve Cross, Club Captain.
Congratulations to David Smith who won the 2017 Seniors Open with an impressive 41 points. The Divisional winners (all with 39 points were Ian Goodall (Div 1); Derek Parker (Div 2); and Terry Mitchell (Div 3).
I am delighted to announce that the winners of the Roberts Cup were the mother and son duo of Vicki Doran and Andrew Kirby with a great score of 48 points. I think Vicki may still be celebrating!
Runners up with 46 points were Al Woolley and Dale Williams. Special mention must be made of our juniors with Elise Hunt (with partner Kevin Lee) and Lucy Bamford and partner Ben Lambourne who had great scores of 44 and 41 respectively. Great results on a very windy day.
The regional final of the NAPGC Bourne-Vanneck Shield took place last weekend at Sherfield Oaks, and we had three teams taking part. All the teams did well but the team comprising Jack Davies, Jamie Sheehan and Kirrill Bates starred and took the top prize, having both the best gross and the best net scores. The team comprising Ian Goodall, Jimmy Lennon and Michael Hunt ran them close and finished in 3rd place in both categories. Special mention goes to Kirrill for his fantastic gross score of 72 (net 67) which was by far the best individual score of the day. Well done everybody!
We're pleased to confirm that the winner will receive a free Callaway polo shirt of their choice, courtesy of the Pro Shop.
A benefactor has kindly donated a framed signed England shirt (2016 squad) to be used for the benefit of the Men's Captain's charity. This means that all raffle money received will go to supporting the Wokingham Hospice. The shirt has a signed certificate of authenticity and the raffle will be drawn on our Captains' Day on 12th August, see link below. Tickets are £1 each and will be available from the competition starters at all Club competitions. Thank you for your support Steve Cross Club Captain
Congratulations to Gloria Cooper, Dan Blackborough, Neli Ladak, and Brian Cooper who won the event with 109 points and all the prize winners. Ish and Steve would like to thank everyone who helped on the day; Paul & Richard for our reduced green fees and donation of 5 sleeves of the newly arrived multi coloured golf balls; and Mill Ride, Royal Ascot and Sherfield Oaks for donating 4-balls vouchers. In particular we would like to thank all of you who purchased raffle tickets / jokers etc and helped to raise £776 for our 2 charities. Please see the link for a list of the prize winners.

Congratulations to Jeff Retallic who was recently nominated to be one of two finalists for the "Pride of Bracknell Forest" Health and Sport Award. He thoroughly deserved his nomination and, although he did not win the top award, he was proud to be included and, apparently, thoroughly enjoyed the Awards Dinner! Well done Jeff!
