We are the Junior Section of the Easthampstead Golf Club, playing at the Downshire public golf course in Bracknell.

What Do We Do?

Coaching and practice sessions run every Thursday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm.

Sessions are open to all Junior members who will receive coaching from the Course Professionals. In winter, sessions are restricted to the driving range in reserved practice bays at the far end of the range. Golf balls are provided free of charge by courtesy of the Downshire Golf Complex. Other driving range bays may be available but for safety reasons we restrict Juniors to the reserved bays where they can be properly supervised and given coaching by the Course Professionals and assistance by the Junior Organisers. In summer, coaching sessions will use a mix of driving range, pitch-and-putt course, the chipping area and the putting green.

NB. All Junior Organisers are DBS cleared for Child Protection.

Competitions

Competitions run every two weeks on Saturdays or Sundays, from 11:04 in the winter and 13:04 in the summer.

Entry to competitions is open to all Junior members subject only to ability as assessed by the Junior Organiser and the Course Professional. Prizes are presented to the first 3 places of the competition. Presentations of the prizes are held 2 or 3 times a year in the clubhouse.

What To Wear?

We do not operate a dress code for coaching and practice sessions but we do expect Juniors to be reasonably clean and tidy. The Downshire Golf Complex does have a formal dress code for the course and the clubhouse. Course dress code – proper golf shoes are compulsory on the full golf course; jeans, football shirts and sleeveless tops are not allowed on the golf course. Golf shoes are not allowed in the bar or restaurant area at any time.

About Safety

Competitions. Safety in competitions is very well covered in the R&A Rules of Golf book and all Juniors playing in competitions will be supplied with a copy.

Driving Range. ‘Players should ensure that no one is standing close by or in a position to be hit by the club or the ball when they make a stroke or practice swing.’ On the driving range this means:

  • Red lines – only the person using the bay should be in front of the red line at any one time.
  • Bays – under no circumstances should any Junior go forward of the bay and onto the range itself at any time.

Pitch and putt course. The same rules apply as to the course itself. All Juniors are supplied with a copy of the Rules of Golf.
